The Active School Flag (ASF) is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools more active, more often.
As an active school we aim to provide all pupils with appropriate PE which is broad and balanced with access to a variety of PE resources.
Encourage pupils to be physically active for at least 60 minutes every day through promoting active breaks and active travel.
Organise an active schools week as part of the school calendar. Take part in initiatives from the Active School Flag to promote exercise and healthy living in our school.
Fundamental movement skills are included in the PE curriculum plan. Class teachers utilize the move well, move often resources to do this.
Our schoool organises an Active school week each year. It is an action packed week which is accessible to all. During Active schools week tracksuits replace uniforms.
We are able to make full use of our local beach for Sandcastle day. Many fun activities such as sack races, parachute games, dancing at break times and relays are incorporated into the Active week.
Our Active walkway in another great addition to the yard area where children can learn on the move, using different learning charts. The flags, letters and clocks are very enjoyable for the pupils.
Our schools Active School Committee was instrumental in our participation in the Active School process. Our pupils had varied leadership roles such as PE equipment monitors, Playground leaders and classroom leaders motivating their peers to try their best.
Every class completed a "What Clubs are you in ?" survery.
We work with loads of different partners to deliver a broad range programme of physical activies to pupils.
