Scoil Mhuire Lahinch
Scoil Mhuire, An Leacht (St. Mary's School, Lahinch) is located in the popular coastal town of Lahinch, on Liscannor Bay, on the west coast of Co. Clare, Ireland. Our website is designed to access important information and to inform the local school community of events that are ongoing in our school.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Our School Fun Run is taking place on Thursday 8th June with the run starting at 7.00pm.
Families can pay online through Aladdin payments and then fill in & return the Registration form or alternatively you can register on the evening of Thursday 8th June from 6.00pm in the school hall. The Fun Run itself will start at 7.00pm. James Sexton of North Clare Athletic Club will act as STARTER for us on the run so that times can be recorded and to help steer us on the right path. If you have friends or extended family who would be interested in getting involved please invite them along for the event.
Before the Race
Prior to the race, race numbers can be collected from the school Hall. We would encourage all individuals to arrive in good time to register/collect race numbers and that way we can ensure there are no delays with the start of the Fun Run.
The Route
The run itself is 5km, leaving School Road, turning left at the main Miltown Malbay Road and heading out the road before turning left for Calluragh South and left again to take us to Atticristora and back down School Road. A map of the route has been attached for your convenience. There will be people on hand along the route to direct you so no need to worry about getting lost/going off course!
Everyone Welcome + Prizes
Whether you are a competitive runner, a jogger, a walker or a person who likes to go between jogging and walking, we welcome everyone. It’s a nice opportunity to bring the school community together, go for a walk with a friend or to do something as a family on what we hope will be a bright and sunny Thursday evening in June! There will be some small cash prizes for the first 3 Men and Women home while there will also be some prizes for the first 3 Girls and Boys to arrive back at the school.
Refreshments
Along the 5km route there will be a number of water stations to keep people going while refreshments will also be served at the school following the run.
Restrictions
Pets & Bicycles are not allowed. Prams/Buggies are fine however.
Parking
Families and participants are encouraged to park in the public carpark on the Miltown Malbay Road. There is no parking at the school.
Assistance along the Way
If anyone that is living along the route is open to giving out some water to participants along the way, please let us know so we can factor it into our plans. Any such assistance would be very much appreciated.
Thanking you all in advance for your support for our annual Fun Run.
Kind regards,
Helen Nolan,
Scoil Mhuire, Lahinch
